Yellow and multicolour fril color dress

Hi! friends I made this beautiful summer dress for my younger daughter, I saw this pattern on Pininterest.com and loved it so much, but that was the top for 6 years old and I made a cute little frock for my angel. Hope everyone love it.

Material needed:--

3/4 meter yellow fabric
1.25 meter multicoloured fabric
lining for skirt 1 meter
1/2 inch elastic 1 meter
sewing machine
thread etc.

Procedure:--

Cut out your top pieces, one eachof the main fabric and one each of the lining (I used same fabric as linning).

Cut a strip of fabric that is three inches by thev width of the other fabric. Fold in half so you have a long strip 1 1/2 inch wide.

Run the gathering stitch on the strip.

Pin the front pieces to the back piece and join only shoulders. Do this for main and linning pieces.

Ruffle the strip until it fits the neckline.

Sew together lining and main fabric for skirt.

Now run the gather stitch and gather it same as top part. Join top and skirt together.

Join one three inch strip on the back of dress and make a panel for inserting elastic.

Insert half inch elastic in the panel.

Put zig-zag stitch or normal stitch on right side of dress on the elastic by stretching it.

Cute little dress for your princess is ready.

Kids Lenhenga - Choli from Saree

I made two lehengas for my daughters from one saree, the advantage i got by choosing this particular saree is that it has to different patterns and colours on each half of the saree, one of them is shown in above pic, my two and a half daughter is wearing it for her Janamastmi celebrations in school. Below is the method and material used to make this lehenga.,

Materials I used:--

Saree (I used garwa saree with silver thread embroidery)
Silver colour fabric - One meter
Purple lining   - Two meter
White linning - One meter
Matching purple and yellow lace - Four meter
Light bronze fabric for lining which gives it a shimmery look - Two meter
Thread
Elastic 1" - 1/2 meter
and any other fancy material you like.

Method:-

First take measurements of your kid:--
Hieght of lehenga = waist to toe + 4"
waist                    = waist + 5" (as i inserted elastic)
Length of choli     = shoulder to hip + 3"
Chest                   = chest + 3"
Sleeves lenghth   = 4"
Sleeves width     = 7"

For Choli:--

Cut white lining first as shown above and cut main fabric keeping pecut linning on it and sew it as shown in the picture. One can make sleeves of silver fabric but I made them from border of saree. decorate your lehenga as you like.

For Lehenga:--

Now first measure the required hieght on saree and length of the fabric depends on how many pleets you require on the lehenga.  Cut waist band bu putting together main fabric and linning 4" width and 24" long(waist size + 5"), join them together and keep aside. Take linining and light bronze fabric same as main fabric but 2" shorter then main fabric, join them together and sew together by using loose stitch for gathering. Gather the fabric by pulling one thread carefully from both sides till it is equal to the length of waistband. Now sew waistband and lehenga from one side of waistband, now fold the waistband in front of lehenga and sew it by inserting 1/2" fabric. Insert elastic as required and sew both ends carefully. Sew bottom of main fabric and linings seperatly and put lace on bottom. Now sew lehenga height wise from waistband to bottom. Lehenga is ready.

Note;--

Preshrink your lining before beginning cutting process by soaking it in water for 1 to 2 hours to prevent after shrinking if any.

This is my first post so please do comment for any suggestions.
